Divorce Lawyers for Calgary, Airdrie And Red Deer Residents
Filing For Divorce Or Served With Divorce Papers
Divorce matters can be complex and hence require the expertise of divorce lawyers. Our team is dedicated to making sure all aspects of your divorce are handled with deliberation. When you come to us with your divorce case, we will not rush to advice. Instead, our competent divorce lawyers will gather important information from you and offer advice based on facts, circumstances and factors that are unique to you. We will further investigate matters of matrimonial property and other financial assets and liabilities. Our service is client-focused.
We handle both uncontested and contested divorces. Contested divorces occur when parties cannot agree on one or more elements in the divorce. Grounds for divorce, child custody, access and support, spousal support, and division of property are a few examples. We find that when parties are agreeable to all aspects of their divorce, an uncontested or desk divorce is in the best interest of the client as they are less expensive, time demanding and less stressful.
Our lawyers are proactive and able to advise clients on complex issues such as moving with children post-divorce. Schedule an appointment for more details.
Matters For Common-Law Partnership in Alberta
In Alberta, Common Law relationships are referred to as “Adult Interdependent Relationships”. This relationship is governed by the provisions of the Adult Interdependent Relationships Act (Alberta). According to this Act, parties are deemed to be Adult Interdependent Partners if they share one another’s lives, and if they are emotionally committed to one another, and function as an economic and domestic unit. In addition, the partners must be living in an interdependent relationship for a minimum of three years, or are living in an interdependent relationship of some permanence where there is a child by birth or adoption, or are living in or intend to live in an interdependent relationship and have entered into a written adult interdependent partnership agreement. We have helped many Adult Interdependent Partners with family law contracts and other separation issues. You can contact our office for more information tailored to your particular case.
